Historic WACO Field

The WACO Historical Society and Air Museum continues to celebrate the Golden Age of Aviation within our aircraft hangars at Historic WACO Field. The Museum is located at 1865 S. County Road 25-A, Troy, Ohio, 45373. For the aviation community, we also have a beautiful 2200 foot grass airstrip, which is open to the public.WACOBuilding

The Museum currently exhibits ten aircraft to include a 1902 Wright Brothers Glider replica, 1919 WACO “Cootie” replica (the first aircraft produced by WACO), 1921 WACO Model 4 replica, 1929 WACO ATO “Taperwing”, 1930 WACO NAZ Primary glider, 1941 WACO UPF-7 and two examples of WWII troop carrying glider noses, one a CG-4A and the other a CG-15. On loan from The Ohio Historical Society are a 1927 WACO Model 9 “Miss McKeesport” and a 1928 WACO Model 10.

Additional exhibits feature several period vehicles, a complete history of the WACO Aircraft Company through thousands of rare WACO photographs, numerous WACO factory artifacts, a collection of engines and propellers, displays featuring the Civil Air Patrol during WWII and Women of WACO and WACO combat glider artifacts and photos.

The museum also features numerous WACO RC models, interactive displays, a museum theater/classroom, a museum archive library and a museum gift shop you will want to explore.

Our goal is to capture the spirit of a working hangar by having real operational aircraft, perhaps undergoing maintenance, restoration, or preparing for take-off while you watch, interspersed among the many exhibits. We host an annual homecoming Fly-in each September where 20–30 original WACO airplanes are displayed, give flying demonstrations and allow the visiting public the opportunity to speak with the pilots and to view the sights and sounds of the Golden Age of Aviation.
