Discover the neighborhood fabric reflected in the restored homes and businesses of a neighborhood reborn. (Also offered May and September on Saturday and Sunday, or by reservation)
Goop Tales, by Gelett Burgess, first entered the world of children’s books in 1900, and it was one of the books Wilbur and Orville Wright read to their nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children. By listening and “acting out” Goop Tales, children learn accepted behavior whether in a museum, classroom, or at home.
Have you ever wondered how a helicopter toy inspired the Wright brothers to develop airplane propellers? Children of all ages can discover how Orville and Wilbur Wright developed their successful theory for airplane propeller construction and design. All participants will assemble their own propeller toy and test its design.
Explore the pasture where the Wright brothers continued their work after Kitty Hawk as they developed the world’s first practical airplane, the 1905 Wright Flyer III, and taught 119 men and women how to fly.
Discover the past and present of this park designed by the Olmsted Brothers. Topics include the area’s ancient past, the history of the Wright Memorial, the formulation of the Miami Conservancy District, and the development of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
