DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Dayton church celebrates receiving two honors from the City of Dayton and the State of Ohio. A historical marker dedication was held Saturday afternoon at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church located at 1501 West Third Street.

The recognition is for the discovery of old documents with historical significance. The diaries of the Wright Brothers’ father, Bishop Milton Wright, were found by the church’s Historical Ministry. In addition, member directories from the former Euclid Ave. United Brethren Church listing Orville Wright and his sister Katharine were also found. The church was also discovered as one of the buildings accredited by the Red Cross to accept and care for victims of the 1913 Dayton flood.
