s7 gewinnen NAHA’s aviation scholarship provides $1,500 worth of flying lessons towards a private pilot’s or light sport pilot’s certificate, enough for a typical student pilot to achieve one’s first solo flight.

To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be between 15 and 21 years old.
- Live or attend school in one of the counties of the National Aviation Heritage Area: Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Shelby, or Warren.
- Be able to pass an FAA third-class medical exam or have a valid Ohio driver’s license.
- Submit an application with supporting documents to NAHA.

NAHA created the scholarship to honor the lives of Mitch Cary and Don Gum, two local pilots and aviation heritage volunteers who lost their lives in 2011. The partner organizations in NAHA and the families of Mitch and Don believe the scholarship is a fitting way to pass their love of flying on to new pilots.
