Ohio jabs Connecticut in Wright Brothers First Flight Fight

On Tuesday, the Ohio House unanimously approved a measure repudiating Connecticut’s claim that Gustave Whitehead of Fairfield flew an airplane in 1901, two years before the Wright brothers made their famous flight on a North Carolina beach.

Rep. Rick Perales told The Associated Press that Ohio can’t stand by while another state “sees fit to change history.”

The squabble began in 2013, when the Connecticut legislature approved a bill honoring Whitehead as the first aviator to make a powered flight.
