Ohio lawmaker says Connecticut’s claims don’t fly

… Last year, the Connecticut legislature passed a resolution recognizing [Gustave] Whitehead as the first person to fly a manned, powered, heavier-than-air aircraft.

Such a claim, of course, doesn’t sit well in Ohio, which touts itself as the “birthplace of aviation” and has long fought North Carolina to claim the Wrights’ legacy.

Last month, state Rep. Rick Perales, a Dayton-area Republican, introduced a resolution denouncing the Connecticut lawmakers’ claims.
