Pilot recalls local air shows

VANDALIA —The 2016 edition of the Vectren Dayton Air Show brought Brad Bashore home to where his dreams of flying were born.

Lt. Col. Bashore was on hand in mid-June as commander of the 58th fighter squadron, which brought the F-35 Lightning II strike fighters to the air show for the first time.

“This is where my dream of flying started, literally on this air field,” said Bashore, a 1997 Tippecanoe High School graduate and U.S. Air Force Academy graduate, as he and fellow pilots prepared the planes for a ground display.
